Umberto Montanaro

Dr. Umberto Montanaro is a Senior Lecturer in Control Engineering and Autonomous Systems at the University of Surrey. He received his M.Sc. degree in Computer Science Engineering in 2005, and his Ph.D. degrees in Control Engineering and Mechanical Engineering in 2009 and 2016, respectively, from the University of Naples Federico II,  Italy.

His research interests range from control theory to its applications, and include adaptive control, optimal control, distributed control, and machine learning, with applications to the control of mechatronic systems, automotive systems, and connected autonomous vehicles. He is author/co-author of more than 90 scientific articles published in peer-reviewed international journals and conference proceedings.

Umberto has served as an Associate Editor for several international conferences, including the IEEE International Conference on Automation Science and Engineering and the IEEE International Conference on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics. He is currently also serving as an Associate Editor for the IEEE Transactions on Automation Science and Engineering.
