Roger Dixon

Member of the Future Mobility Grand Challenge Research Committee

Roger is a Professor of Control Systems Engineering and a member of the Automation Robotics and Control Group at the University of Birmingham. With a passion for research, innovation, and research-led teaching, his work focuses on advanced methods for model-based control, monitoring, fault tolerance, and mechatronic design of engineering systems.

Roger brings over 25 years of experience from both industry (ALSTOM Technology Centre) and academia (Lancaster, Loughborough, and Birmingham). His expertise spans power generation, aerospace, automotive, and railway engineering. His contributions have resulted in numerous papers, several patents, and the recent formation of the spinout company RETECH Innovations Ltd.

He is a Chartered Engineer and a Fellow of both the Higher Education Academy (HEA) and the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE).
